So, it has been a while since I posted anything. Between work and the site I haven’t had much time for reflection.
However, I’d like to quickly update everyone with where I am up to and where I will go next.
Launch moved to Easter
First, I have decided to put in one more delay to the release date. The good news for you is this means you can now use the site for a bit longer without worrying about a subscription. I really don’t want to move forward with subscriptions until I have everything in place. While the site is in a good place at the moment there are a few more things that need to be done before moving forward with subscriptions.
I want to make sure that all of the Craig n Dave Time 2 code exercises are on the site as I know a lot of you are waiting for the final exercises to be added.
I also have a few more bug fixes and requests to put in place before I think I have done everything I’d like.
So, nothing to pay until Easter!
Subscription Prices
I have some final testing to do before I start accepting subscriptions prior to launch and this should be in place for just after February half term.
The first year subscription prices are now available. The prices below are for 12 months, however a number of you have been in touch asking if you can extend this to the end of the year.
I know what it is like aligning subscriptions with year start/ends, so I have decided that once you can sign up for subscriptions, any subscription made before the end of the beta/before launch will be extended until July 2026!
I did want to make subscriptions as affordable as possible so I hope that is what I have done…
Package Name | Number of Teacher Accounts | Number of Student Accounts | Usual Price | Early Offer Price |
---|---|---|---|---|
Individual | 1 | 120 | £75 | £65 |
Small School | 2-3 | 500 | £120 | £110 |
Medium School | 3-4 | 1000 | £170 | £160 |
Large School | 4-6 | 1500 | £210 | £200 |
Site periodically unavailable for maintenance and updates (15/2 – 23/2)
Over half term, the site will regularly be unavailable as I will be applying several large updates and some big changes with accounts etc.
One of the major changes will be to the current account and subscription models. Currently all users have their own subscription. To support the new multi-teacher/student allocation model, the account system will be changing quite radically. More information will be posted about this, but the change requires quite a lot of changes to the site which I want to put out at a time when students are less likely to be using/needing the site.
Changing to this new model will allow easier sharing of things like classes inside an organisation/among teachers while still ensuring the security of your data so I hope you will welcome it.
The site may be available at times but availability will be a little unpredictable (I need to run and test the updates when I have the time).
Keep an eye out for an explanation of the changes to the model as it may affect the way you use your account.
and…
Just wanted to thank everyone for their support. I hope you have found the site useful and I’ve had a lot of great feedback from you all. It’s really pleasing to hear that your students are enjoying using the site.
I have so much more planned! Things move a little slower than I plan as work usually takes up much of my time, especially now as we move into exam season.
However, some of the things I am looking forward to bringing to the site:
- Finishing off all the Time2Code projects and assignments
- More assignments and projects including some for absolute beginners, Edexcel style projects, more A Level and advanced problems and a lot more standard projects…
- Better assignment and project management including the ability to show and hide projects in individual assignments
- Ability to copy assignments using duplication codes – you made a good assignment you should be able to share it
- The ability to create your own projects…I know this is something you really want to be able to do – I have it working already but want to be sure it’s ready!
- More gamification for students – the stars were just the start. Leaderboards, challenges, badges, more additions to come.
- Ability for students to save their code and projects outside of the courses and assignments – providing students with the ability to create, save and share their code snippets.
- Ability to add multiple teachers to your classes (this will be possible due to the new subscription model which will bring all of your organisations teachers under one roof, keeping your data secure)
- More updates to the editor with additional features requested…
and more….
It is going to take time to implement all of this but I hope that you have found the site useful and will continue on this journey with me as I extend and build on the sites features.
Thanks
Pete
